Bali Visa in 2025: Do You Need One, How Much Does It Cost, and How to Get It

23.06.2025
Bali is not on the list of visa-free countries. This means: you need a visa in any case, even if you’re only going for a week. But the good news is — there are plenty of options, from a short-term 30-day visa on arrival to long-term visas (up to 5 years).
This article was prepared by the team at GTS Bali, a premium concierge service on the island
WE ASSIST WITH:

  • all types of visas (e-VOA, C1, D1, D12, KITAS),
  • full relocation to Bali,
  • housing search and rental (apartments, villas),

  • leisure, excursions, and entertainment.

In this guide, you’ll find all the information about Bali visas, including costs of application and extension through GTS Bali.

Can You Enter Bali Without a Visa?

Visa-free entry is not allowed. However, the most convenient option is to apply for an Electronic Visa on Arrival (e-VOA). This type of visa is suitable for tourists, travelers, and those who want to stay on the island for up to 31 days.
But if you’re planning to stay for the winter, work, study, or live long-term, this visa won’t be enough — you’ll need a different visa category. More on that below.

Entry Requirements for Bali in 2025

TO ENTER BALI, YOU’LL NEED:

  • A passport valid for at least 6 months from the date of entry.
  • A ticket for departure from Indonesia.
  • An address of stay — hotel, apartment, or villa.
  • Proof of sufficient funds — formally required, but rarely checked in practice.
  • A filled-out e-CD form (Electronic Customs Declaration) — either online in advance or at the airport.
  • Payment of the tourist tax.
TIP:

Always double-check current entry requirements on the official Indonesian Immigration website or consult a trusted visa agent before your trip — the rules may change.

When Do You Need a More Serious Visa?

You should consider a long-term visa if you:

  • plan to stay in Bali for more than 60 days,
  • want to spend the winter or live there for 6−12 months,
  • work remotely, are starting a business, or are traveling with family.
In that case, you’ll need to look into long-term visas such as C1, C2, D1, D12, or E33G. These allow stays of 60 to 360 days per visit, can be extended without leaving the country, or permit multiple entries.

What Types of Visas Are Available in 2025?

There’s no one-size-fits-all visa for Bali — the right visa depends on your purpose and length of stay. Below are the main visa types available in 2025, ranging from 30-day tourist visas to 1-year and even 5-year multiple-entry options.

How Many Times and for How Long Can You Extend a Visa in Indonesia

Where Can You Extend Your Visa?

You have two options:

  1. Do it yourself at an immigration office in Bali — suitable for those who speak English fluently.
  2. Use an agent or concierge service (like GTS Bali) — we’ll handle the extension for you. All you need to do is sign the documents and hand over your passport for 2−3 days. Note: As of June 1, 2025, fingerprints are required, which must be submitted at the immigration office.

When Should You Apply for an Extension?

It’s best to start the extension process at least 14 days before your current visa expires. For the D12 visa, we recommend applying 180 days in advance if you plan to extend it to the maximum term.

How Much Does It Cost to Extend a Visa?

Below are the extension fees through our concierge service (GTS Bali):

  • e-VOA — $ 65
  • C1 / C2 / D1 / D12 — average $ 170
  • D12 (maximum extension) — approx. $ 500
The price may include government fees, processing, and service charges. Always confirm the final amount before payment.
GTS Bali’s Concierge Service can take care of your visa extension. We submit your documents, deal with immigration, and return your passport with the new validity on time.

Entry to Bali and Visa Requirements in 2025

To ensure a smooth trip to Bali, it’s important to prepare all documents in advance and be aware of visa validity terms. Below is the key information you need to know:

  • Your passport must be valid for at least 6 more months from the date of entry into Indonesia and have at least 1−2 blank pages.
  • Visa validity starts on the day you enter Indonesia, not the date the visa is issued.
PENALTIES:

  • Around 1 million IDR (approx. $ 65) per day for overstaying your visa.
  • If you overstay more than 60 days, you risk deportation and a 6 to 12-month entry ban.
  • In rare cases, administrative charges may be filed.
TIP:

Always check your visa’s expiration date and apply for an extension at least 14 days before it runs out.
AT IMMIGRATION CONTROL, YOU MAY BE ASKED TO SHOW:

  • A return ticket or onward ticket out of Indonesia
  • Proof of accommodation (hotel, apartment, or villa)
  • In some cases, proof of financial means (e.g., a bank statement)
  • A completed e-CD form (electronic customs declaration) — we can assist with this too.

FAQ

CAN I PAY FOR THE VISA WITH A RUSSIAN BANK CARD?

Yes. If you’re applying through GTS Bali concierge service, you can pay in any currency, including rubles, using a Russian card.
WHAT’S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A TOURIST AND A BUSINESS VISA?

The only difference is the purpose of your visit. If you’re planning to live in Bali, a tourist visa is usually enough.
CAN I SHOW A RETURN TICKET RESERVATION AT PASSPORT CONTROL INSTEAD OF A PAID TICKET?

Yes. If you’re unsure of your travel dates, choose refundable tickets or those with date-change options. Never use fake tickets — they may be rejected by immigration.
DO CHILDREN NEED A VISA?

Yes. Children need the same visa type as adults, even if the child is under one year old.
